Crystal Judson Family Justice Center Awarded Avon Grant

The Avon Foundation for Women has awarded a $65,000 one-year grant to the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center in support of its Avon Domestic Violence Survivor Empowerment Program, which provides annual funding for 20 full-time coordinator positions in domestic violence agencies across the United States.

Reports of abuse of the elderly in Sonoma County have surged 44 percent in eight years, to more than 3,000 every year, county officials say.

“I think as our senior population grows and as we become more aware of what's happening with aging issues, reports will rise,” said District Attorney Jill Ravitch, who has established a separate unit to deal exclusively with cases of fraud, neglect and violence against older people.

New Request For Proposals Announced

New York – The Avon Foundation for Women today announced the solicitation of proposals from 501(c)(3) nonprofit agencies, government agencies or training specialists agencies, to advance the goal of developing awareness and skills training tools that will help prevent domestic and partner violence and sexual assault. The new project includes the creation of Breakthrough Bystander Behavior Training Programs and the delivery of such programs through employers in collaboration with local experts identified by the NO MORE coalition.
